Visual Acuity Testing
We use a modern auto refracto-keratometer (ARK) and digital phoropter to measure your visual acuity with exceptional accuracy. This equipment determines your exact prescription for glasses or contact lenses by rapidly assessing how your eyes focus light at various distances.
Tonometry
Our tonometer measures your intraocular pressure without the discomfort of the traditional air puff method. We use a pachymetry-based system that accounts for corneal thickness, providing a more precise and reliable reading — essential for accurate glaucoma screening.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Our OCT system captures detailed cross-sectional images of both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This single instrument provides:
- Corneal OCT Topography — Detailed corneal thickness and curvature mapping
- Macula Assessment — High-resolution scans for detecting and monitoring age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, and other retinal conditions
- Optic Nerve Assessment — Precise measurement of the nerve fibre layer for glaucoma diagnosis and follow-up
OCT is indispensable for the ongoing management of macular degeneration and glaucoma, allowing us to track even the smallest changes over time.
Fundus Camera
Our fundus camera captures high-resolution images of the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels. It is equipped with:
- Autofluorescence imaging — Reveals metabolic changes in the retinal pigment epithelium, useful for early detection of macular disease
- Fluorescein angiography — Maps retinal blood flow to diagnose and monitor conditions like diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, and macular degeneration
These capabilities allow us to detect, document, and monitor retinal conditions with exceptional clarity.
Corneal Topographer / Tomographer
Advanced Dry Eye Analyzer
Our corneal topographer/tomographer creates a detailed 3D map of the cornea’s shape, curvature, and thickness. This is essential for diagnosing conditions such as keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, and corneal dystrophies.
The system also includes an integrated dry eye analyser that evaluates tear film quality, helping us diagnose and manage dry eye disease with precision.
Specular Microscope
This specialised microscope examines and counts the corneal endothelial cells — the delicate innermost layer of the cornea responsible for maintaining corneal clarity. Endothelial cell assessment is essential before any intraocular surgery and for long-term monitoring of corneal health.
Digital Slit Lamp with Recording
Our digital slit lamp allows us to examine your eyes under high magnification and record photos and videos for documentation and follow-up. By using special lenses, we can also perform a detailed fundoscopy, examining the retina all the way to the far periphery.
This method is essential for diagnosing and evaluating conditions like diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears (with or without detachment), and other retinal abnormalities.
Visual Field Analyser
Our visual field analyser maps the full extent of your peripheral and central vision. This is essential for detecting and monitoring glaucoma progression, neurological conditions, and other visual field defects. Regular visual field testing allows us to track changes over time with precision.
YAG Laser
For patients with posterior capsule opacification (secondary cataract), we use a YAG laser to perform a capsulotomy — a quick, painless procedure that restores clear vision. This is a common and straightforward treatment following cataract surgery.
A-Scan Ultrasound
This ultrasound technology measures the axial length of the eye, which is crucial for selecting the correct intraocular lens (IOL) power for cataract surgery. Accurate measurements lead to better visual outcomes.
B-Scan Ultrasound
The B-scan provides detailed images of the eye’s internal structures when direct visualisation is not possible — for example, in the presence of dense cataracts or vitreous haemorrhage. It is essential for diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as retinal detachment, intraocular tumours, and vitreous abnormalities.
